This is the moment an arsonist set fire to a synagogue – but ensured an instant comeuppance.

Tristan Morgan, 51, was caught on camera pouring petrol on the religious building and set it alight.

But he is then seen taking the full blast of the explosion in his face in central Exeter, Devon.

The white supremacist was given an indefinite hospital order at the Old Bailey in London today.

He pleaded guilty to arson and two charges under the Terrorism Act, Plymouth Live says.

The footage, played in court, shows Morgan splash fuel through a window at Exeter Synagogue and, despite getting engulf in flames, he calmly walks away.

Morgan pats his singed head and drives off in a Mercedes Vito van.

The Old Bailey heard the defendant carried out the anti-semitic attack on July 21, 2018 – a date that coincided with a Jewish fast day commemorating disasters, including the Holocaust.

The far-right extremist with “deep-rooted anti-Semitic beliefs” laughed after he set fire to a historic synagogue, the judge was told.

Superintendent Matt Lawler, the Local Policing Commander for Exeter, East & Mid Devon said it was ‘sheer chance’ nobody was worshiping in the building at the time.

“Morgan is clearly very unwell and following multiple detailed medical assessments it is clear that a hospital order is appropriate. He will be subject of further assessments and close monitoring for many years to come,” he said.

“The footage, which was played in open court, shows the level of planning, determination and intent by Morgan, whom the wider evidence clearly showed held abhorrent extreme right-wing, anti-Semitic, and white supremacist views. It is only by sheer chance that the synagogue was empty and indeed that Morgan himself sustained only minor burns.”

Following a joint investigation by local officers and Counter Terrorism Policing South West working with the special cases unit of the Crime Prosecution Service (CPS), Morgan was charged with collecting information and encouraging terrorism.

And Morgan, of no fixed abode, will be subject of long-term monitoring by the police and partners if he’s ever released.

Alistair Richardson, prosecuting, said Morgan made songs “exhorting others to violence” against the Jewish community and had an array of material that “revelled in the degenerate views of Nazi Germany and white supremacists”.

He said: “He appeared to be laughing, while trying to flatten his hair, which she described as looking like it had been ‘whooshed up’.”

As he was put in a police van, Morgan said: “Please tell me that synagogue is burning to the ground, if not, it’s poor preparation.”

Later, as his burns were being treated in hospital, he told staff “it was like a bomb going off”.

The synagogue, built in 1763, is the third oldest in Britain and remains a focal point for the Jewish community in the south-west.

President of the Synagogue, Mr Richard Halsey said: “We sincerely thank the local police for their brilliant response and for their thorough investigation and support since the traumatic events of last year.

“In particular we wish to highlight how the community of Exeter has come together to demonstrate the genuine positivity in our city. We live in a wonderful place that has demonstrated tolerance and support for each other at times of need, and the whole Jewish community sincerely appreciates the support we have had from all faiths here in Exeter.

“In October we were thankfully able to return our services to the Synagogue, and in April this year we celebrated a wonderful re-dedication service.

“We are now back in our home, and it is as special as it has always been.”

Ilhan Omar Arrested in 2013 For Trespassing, Booked At Hennepin County Jail

State Rep. Ilhan Omar was arrested in 2013 for trespassing and booked at Hennepin County Jail “to prevent further criminal conduct,” according to a newly uncovered police report.

The incident took place on January 18, 2013 following an event at the Minneapolis Convention Center featuring former Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. The Somali president was set to stay the night at the Hotel Ivy, causing large groups of Somalis to follow the presidential convoy to the hotel, including Omar.

According to the police report, hotel staff requested police assistance in clearing the lobby, saying that anyone without a hotel room key was not welcome on the premises and needed to leave immediately. The officer handling the incident said the majority of people who were asked to leave were compliant. However, Omar, when approached, was “argumentative” and refused to leave.

“As she stood her ground and refused to leave I took hold of her left elbow to escort her from the lobby. Omar then pulled away from me stating, ‘Don’t put your hands on me!’ Others in her group complied and began walking toward the front entry/exit door as I ordered and I managed to coax Omar out with them,” the police report reads.

Ten minutes after the original encounter, the officer reports finding Omar seated in a different area of the lobby. According to the officer’s account, Omar “remained defiant” as he informed her that she would be arrested for trespassing if she didn’t leave.

Since she refused to comply with orders, the officer arrested Omar. The officer reached for Omar’s left arm to get her to stand so she could be handcuffed, but she pulled away. The officer handcuffed her while she stayed seated in the hotel lobby chair.

“Omar was booked at [Hennepin County Jail] as I felt it was likely that she would fail to respond to a citation and she also demonstrated that she was going to continue her criminal behavior,” the officer wrote.

Rep. Ilhan Omar pushes for release of jailed Muslim Brotherhood leader

Why is an American congresswoman advocating for an Islamist activist?

Rep. Ilhan Omar — whose short tenure in Congress thus far has been rife with controversy — made a shocking appeal Tuesday, openly pushing for the release of a senior member of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood.

Omar took to Twitter Tuesday evening demanding that President Donald Trump call for the release of Hoda Abdelmonem, a senior member in the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood’s women’s affiliate.

I quickly confirmed that this was the same Abdelmonem who has for years been a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, which advocates for Islamist takeover of Egypt.

Abdelmonem remains an influential figure and a senior leader in the Islamist outfit, and the campaign for her release has been a top priority item for Muslim Brotherhood-aligned individuals, groups, and governments. Muslim Brotherhood-tied media networks such as Middle East Eye, Middle East Monitor, and Al Jazeera have dedicated nonstop coverage to this issue, often falsely portraying the Islamist activist as a human rights advocate. Muslim Brotherhood-tied campaigners in the U.S. have continued a full-court press for Abdelmonem’s release.

Additionally, these same entities all remain fiercely opposed to the rule of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, who in 2013 ousted Mohamed Morsi, the Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated former president in Cairo. So convincing the president to call for the release of their Islamist ally would arguably chip away at el-Sisi’s legitimacy.

After posting a photo of her meeting with pro-Muslim Brotherhood campaigners, Omar then doubled down on her push, retweeting this post linking to an Al Jazeera video that calls for Abdelmonem’s release:

Al Jazeera is the state-controlled, Islamist-promoting media network of the Qatari government, which uses slave labor and funds terrorist organizations throughout the Middle East. Al Jazeera regularly promotes Muslim Brotherhood leaders and groups, which seek to overthrow stable U.S. allies and install Islamist theocracies in their stead.

Since entering Congress, Rep. Omar has continued to show a preference for antagonistic U.S. adversaries and throwback Islamist leaders and groups, as opposed to U.S.-friendly Middle East nations and peaceful reform movements worldwide. She has become a regular on the CAIR speaking circuit. The terror-tied Islamist group raised mountains of cash for her congressional campaign.

The Muslim Brotherhood is classified as a terrorist organization in several nations, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Russia, Egypt, and Bahrain. The group has spawned the likes of deceased Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of ISIS.

Republicans in Congress continue to push legislation and directly appeal to President Trump to classify the Muslim Brotherhood as a foreign terrorist organization, given its tendency for violence and the group’s extremist, anti-American philosophy.
