Pop Singer Janelle Monae Just CAME OUT . . . As a LESBIAN!! (Dating Tessa Thompson)!

MTO News first broke the news that pop singer Janelle Monae is gay, and that she’s dating actress Tessa Thompson.

Well Janelle has finally admitted it.

Here’s what she told Entertainment Weekly in a new article, “Being a queer black woman in America,” she says, taking a breath as she comes out, “someone who has been in relationships with both men and women – I consider myself to be a free-ass motherfucker.”

She initially identified as bisexual, she clarifies, “but then later I read about pansexuality and was like, ‘Oh, these are things that I identify with too.’ I’m open to learning more about who I am.”

Janelle is currently dating, and in love, with actress Tessa Thompson.

Tessa spoke on her relationship with Janelle a few months ago and said,

“Janelle and I have been really close. We’ve been really good friends at this point for about three and a half years,” the Thor: Ragnarok star told ET in February. “I’m so lucky to have her in my life. I met her in an audition!”

The 34-year-old actress added that some consider “Make Me Feel” to be a “bisexual anthem.”

“If it makes people feel liberated in their skin and feel closer to who they are, then I think we did our job,” she said of the song and video.

“I want young girls, young boys, nonbinary, gay, straight, queer people who are having a hard time dealing with their sexuality, dealing with feeling ostracized or bullied for just being their unique selves, to know that I see you,” she says. “This album is for you. Be proud.”

R. Lee Ermey Passes Away at 74!

The NRA Board of Directors lost one of its beloved members on Sunday, April 15, 2018 when R. Lee Ermey of Palmdale, Calif., passed away from complications of pneumonia at the

Known to millions of fans as “Gunny,” Ermey was a native of Emporia, Kansas. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17 and served for 11 years, 14 months of which were spent in Vietnam.

He earned his first film role—the first of 70 films he would eventually star in—as Sergeant Loyce in 1978’s The Boys in Company C. This was quickly followed up in 1979 when he appeared in Apocalypse Now, co-written by fellow NRA Board Member John Milius.

It was Stanley Kubrick’s 1987 film, Full Metal Jacket, that earned him lasting fame and the sobriquet “Gunny” for his stunning performance as Marine Corps Drill Instructor Gunnery Sergeant Hartman. Although he was medically discharged from the Marine Corps as a Staff Sergeant, he was recalled from retirement and officially promoted to Gunnery Sergeant and then immediately retired at the rank for which everyone came to know and love him.

He served as the host for “Mail Call” (2002 – 2007) and “Lock and Load” (2009). Both shows featured Gunny describing and shooting vintage and modern firearms. His marksmanship and working knowledge of the firearms earned him the respect and admiration of service members who knew his interest and expertise were genuine.

During a taping of the first episode of Lock and Load, I had the privilege of working with Gunny on the set here near NRA Headquarters in Fairfax, Va. A small group of us went to lunch at a local restaurant and at first Gunny went completely unrecognized by the staff and guests. It didn’t take long for the waiters to recognize the face and especially the commanding voice that was “Sarge” in Toy Story (1995). He was soon deluged for autographs, handshakes and photographs. He obligingly posed for every photo and signed every napkin placed in front of him. One of the crew asked him if that ever got old for him. He said, “Never. When they stop asking is when it’s time to worry. The ones that ask are the ones that are watching the shows and paying my salary. It’s the least I can do. I owe them.”

We worked together on numerous shows and programs and enjoyed many a fine cigar over the years that I was fortunate to know him. Once, in 2005, while we were taking a break during a celebrity golf tournament that he was hosting near Annapolis, Md., (something about a “shotgun start” required my presence and a Winchester Model 1897 to get things going) a friend of mine serving in the 82nd Airborne called me from New Orleans to say he had just been deployed to assist in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. Gunny asked me to forward his concern and respect for their efforts and later asked me for Matt’s contact details as he decided to go there himself to provide support. Matt was floored when Gunny called and he ended up being his driver for the next few days while Gunny bolstered morale following that dreadful natural disaster.

At the time of his death, Gunny was a member of the NRA Board of Directors, elected by petition in 2012. He competed annually in NRA High Power Rifle Championships on Dennis DeMille’s team, and served as a spokesman for Glock since 2004 and SOG Knives since 2010.

His support for the U.S. military was legendary, in particular the Young Marines program, as well as his advocacy for veterans and their treatment at VA Hospitals.

He and his wife, Nila, were married for nearly 40 years. He was father to six children and grandfather to nine.

We are diminished by your passing. The example you set by how you lived your life is your legacy. Vaya con Dios, my friend. You are sincerely missed.

Supreme Court Upholds Teenager’s 241-Year Prison Term!

_100554761_bobbycollage1The US Supreme Court has rejected the appeal of a man sentenced to 241 years in prison for a crime he committed when he was 16 years old.

Bobby Bostic committed several violent crimes in 1995, including armed robbery, but his lawyers argued his sentence was unconstitutional.

They cited the Eighth Amendment, which forbids “cruel and unusual punishments” and demanded a retrial, but in vain.

The justices did not give a reason for their decision.

The teenage Bostic had robbed people delivering Christmas presents at gunpoint, shot and injured a man, and stole a car.

Bostic’s lawyers wrote in their petition that the unfair sentencing meant Bostic, “who committed only nonhomicide offenses as a 16 year old, will never be fit to rejoin society, no matter how successfully he demonstrates maturity and reform as an adult”.

In 2010, the Supreme Court ruled that the Constitution “prohibits the imposition of a life without parole sentence on a juvenile offender who did not commit homicide.”

Bostic was sentenced in 1997, at the age of 18, and the judge who sentenced him has since said: “This is the only one where I regret the amount of time I gave.”

Evelyn Baker was a judge for 25 years, retiring 10 years ago. The Bostic sentence was the longest she ever gave.

“This is the only one where I regret the amount of time I gave,” she told the BBC earlier this year. “The amount of time is ridiculous.”

The Supreme Court’s rejection means Bostic will not be eligible for parole until he is 112.

Sarasota Student Makes Racist Prom Proposal!

79a670e38def96b3abc227bb4bce705c

Riverview High School says it is investigating.

SARASOTA COUNTY — A Riverview High student is under fire after using a racist sign to ask his girlfriend to the school’s prom.

The sign, reading “If I was black, I’d be picking cotton, but I’m white, so I’m picking u 4 prom,” made the rounds on Twitter Sunday night. The proposal was conducted by 18-year-old student Noah Crowley, the district confirmed. Riverview students found the image on the female student’s Snapchat, with a caption of two heart-eye emojis, implying that she was excited about the request. The Herald-Tribune did not identify Crowley until confirming that he is an adult.

By Monday morning, various Twitter posts had already received hundreds of retweets and favorites. One student tweeted out the image with the comment: “He seems to not know about America’s history. Racism is a problem. Definitely should not be allowed to go to the prom!!”

School district spokeswoman Tracey Beeker confirmed Monday morning that Crowley attended Riverview and the sign was under investigation by the school district. She said administrators have been speaking to the student and his parents on the phone since Sunday evening.

A robocall was sent to Riverview parents Monday morning, administrators said.

″[The post] was racial in nature and administration became aware of it last night,” said Riverview acting principal Kathy Wilks in a call to parents Monday morning. “Many who saw the post are understandably upset with its contents as well as the subsequent commentary to the post. Riverview High School absolutely does not condone or support the message conveyed in this post.”

She added: “We are focused on ensuring that Riverview High School provides a safe and secure environment for all of our students and that all students feel welcome and understand the value that they all bring to our school community. Our guidance counselors and administrators are available for any student who wish to speak to someone regarding the issue. Riverview High School has a wonderful student population and we know our school will use this incident as an opportunity to have productive conversations about respect for one another.”

Riverview senior Anton Kernohan, who has been involved in planning gun control protests at the school, said everyone he had talked with at the school was “disgusted” with the sign.

“But I think it is actually important that this issue occurred on some level,” he said Monday. “It shows that racism is still alive and well in our society, and it shows that racism is still alive in my generation and it is something that we as the youth will have to continue to fight against.”

Trevor Harvey, president of the Sarasota chapter of the NAACP, encouraged Sarasota school administrators to issue a district-wide response making it clear that the sign was inappropriate.

“A strong statement needs to be made to their student body that this type of behavior will not be tolerated on any of our campuses throughout the school district, and, if so, there are going to be severe consequences,” Harvey said. “When we see so many heightened race relations throughout our country, our district has to take a proactive standpoint to make sure that that stuff doesn’t spill off into our schools.”

The event comes on the heels of two black men being arrested at a Starbucks store in Philadelphia after they were denied access to the bathroom because they had not purchased anything. After they sat in the store waiting for a friend, a Starbucks employee called the police.

The incident led Starbucks to announce that they would close more than 8,000 stores on May 29 for anti-bias training. Harvey encouraged Sarasota County schools to do something similar.

“We are hoping the district takes our recommendation and brings groups in like us to help facilitate and have these open dialogues on just education and awareness on how these kinds of things impact everybody,” Harvey said. “It impacts everybody, not just blacks and Hispanics and Asians, it impacts all, and we need to sit down and deal with it.”

Beeker said the district is talking with local and national civic organizations to determine the best opportunities for “creating a conversation about racial relations.”

The district released a statement Monday afternoon noting that they do not “support or condone” the post’s message.

“Although this message is one student’s opinion, we take the matter of racial relations and school safety seriously, and we look forward to working with our students and these outside groups to have a meaningful and informative dialogue and expanded curriculum related to this important national topic,” the statement reads.

The district is still deciding whether any disciplinary action will be taken against the student, she added.

It’s True – Uranus Really Does Stink

If you were ever to stand on the surface of Uranus and take a deep breath, you would get the distinctive pong of rotten eggs (and no oxygen of course).

“If an unfortunate human were ever to descend through Uranus’s clouds, they would be met with very unpleasant and odiferous conditions ,” says Patrick Irwin, professor of planetary physics at the University of Oxford, UK.

“[But] suffocation and exposure in the negative 200 degrees Celsius atmosphere made of mostly hydrogen, helium, and methane would take its toll long before the smell.”

This is an image of the planet Uranus taken by the spacecraft Voyager 2 in 1986. (Credit: NASA)

Scientists have long debated about the possible presence of sulphur in the atmosphere of Uranus, but despite decades of research and the visit of the Voyager 2 spacecraft in the late 1980s, it’s never been known for sure.

However, a team of astronomers led by Irwin has now found that hydrogen sulphide definitely does permeate the upper atmosphere of Uranus, according to sensitive spectroscopic observations with the Gemini North telescope on Hawaii’s Maunakea.

Irwin and his team used infrared light images capture by the scope’s Near-Infrared Integral Field Spectrometer, which sampled reflected sunlight from a region just over the main visible cloud layer in Uranus’ atmosphere.

“While the lines we were trying to detect were just barely there, we were able to detect them unambiguously thanks to the sensitivity of NIFS on Gemini, combined with the exquisite conditions on Maunakea,” said Irwin in a statement.

“Although we knew these lines would be at the edge of detection, I decided to have a crack at looking for them in the Gemini data we had acquired.”

Scientists have long known that some sort of noxious fumes fill the clouds of Uranus, but the question of whether it was hydrogen sulphide or ammonia making the stink was up for debate. The fact that it’s the former means that Uranus contrasts sharply with the gas giant planets closer to the Sun, Jupiter and Saturn. The bulk of their cloud cover is made up of ammonia ice.

“During our Solar System’s formation the balance between nitrogen and sulphur (and hence ammonia and Uranus’s newly-detected hydrogen sulphide) was determined by the temperature and location of planet’s formation,” said Leigh Fletcher, a member of the research team from the University of Leicester in the UK.

Because it’s highly likely that the Solar System’s gas giants migrated from where they first formed, this finding is invaluable in helping establish where Uranus was born and how it evolved.

Joy Reid Blames Bizarre ‘Hack’ For Homophobic Posts — And Now They’re Gone!

MSNBC’s Joy Reid claimed on Monday that homophobic content from her old blog was “fabricated” by outside sources and added to the site after she shut it down, with all the content mysteriously disappearing from internet archives.

Mediaite reported last December that Reid had posted a series of anti-gay articles on her blog, the Reid Report, and Reid offered an apology via Facebook shortly thereafter, taking full responsibility for them.

This note is my apology to all who are disappointed by the content of blogs I wrote a decade ago, for which my choice of words and tone have legitimately been criticized. As a writer, I pride myself on a facility with language — an economy of words or at least some wisdom in the selection. However, that clearly has not always been the case.

But Twitter user @Jamie_Maz recently unearthed several more of the posts, and each one appeared to be worse than the last.

Thread – 1/x Joy Reid’s homophobic blog posts were far worse than 1st reported. They also had nothing to do with Republican hypocrisy on gay marriage. Joy also opposed gay marriage at the time. She gleefully accused people of being gay and posted a number of questionable things. pic.twitter.com/ZloivXczTS — Not a bot (@Jamie_Maz) April 18, 2018

2/x Top 5 “totally not gay celebrities of the year”. Using your media platform to out people you think is gay to get clicks has nothing to do with Republicans hypocrisy on gay marriage. pic.twitter.com/0B921itHkj — Not a bot (@Jamie_Maz) April 18, 2018

3/x Joy writes that @karlrove is known as Miss Piggy in Washington DC’s gay circles. Claims he is a leader of the gay Republican mafia. Joy re-posted this “reidblog classics” at the end of the year for her readers’ enjoyment. pic.twitter.com/mFTvApK0VX — Not a bot (@Jamie_Maz) April 18, 2018

But then @Jamie_Maz noticed something even more disturbing: the links to the blog were disappearing from the internet archive site The Wayback Machine.

7/x in the last few months the site was removed from the Wayback Machine on Internet Archive at the request of whoever controls the blog, from what I understand. These screenshots were taken before it came downhttps://t.co/5bxkkYLGR6 pic.twitter.com/TFk2vv48Xk — Not a bot (@Jamie_Maz) April 18, 2018

Wow, the @internetarchive is removing documentation of @JoyAnnReid‘s homophobic slurs and insults. https://t.co/4CFH2QfRfN pic.twitter.com/S0dQj2zfaU — Ryan Saavedra (@RealSaavedra) April 24, 2018

Reid provided an updated statement to Mediaite, saying, “Now that the site has been compromised I can state unequivocally that it does not represent the original entries. I hope that whoever corrupted the site recognizes the pain they have caused, not just to me, but to my family and communities that I care deeply about: LGBTQ, immigrants, people of color and other marginalized groups.”

Murder suspect claims Morgan Freeman had sex with granddaughter!!

Morgan Freeman’s step-granddaughter told her would-be killer boyfriend the famed actor had a sexual relationship with her, lawyers disclosed Friday.

The seamy, years-old allegation surfaced during the Manhattan trial of Lamar Davenport who’s accused of butchering his girlfriend E’Dena Hines in 2015.

“E’Dena Hines disclosed to Lamar Davenport and others that her grandfather engaged in a sexually inappropriate relationship with her,” Davenport’s lawyer Annie Costanzo told the court, reading a stipulation agreement signed off on by the prosecution.

It was not immediately clear why the disclosure might be relevant to the case.

Freeman, 80, has been dogged by the claim since 2009 when The National Enquirer reported that the Oscar-winning actor carried on a years-long sexual relationship with Hines.

Three years later, gossip sites reported that the pair were actually planning to wed.

But both Freeman and Hines shot down the rumors.

“The recent reports of any pending marriage or romantic relationship of me to anyone are defamatory fabrications from the tabloid media designed to sell papers,” Morgan said in a statement.

Hines, then 27, said the claims were bogus but painful.

“These stories about me and my grandfather are not only untrue, they are also hurtful to me and my family,” she said at the time.

Freeman’s manager did not immediately return a request for comment. Hines was the daughter of a woman adopted by Freeman and his first wife, Jeannette Adair Bradshaw.

Prosecutors say Davenport, 33, stabbed his girlfriend roughly 25 times in a drug-fueled attack outside the victim’s W. 162nd St. building.

Davenport’s lawyers are mounting an insanity defense, claiming he was in the throes of a PCP-induced psychosis at the time of the murder.

“My opinion was that he lacked substantial capacity to appreciate the wrongfulness of his actions and know the nature and consequences of his conduct,” defense expert Jeremy Colley testified Friday.

“Mr. Davenport did not possess the intent to kill Ms. Hines.”

Defense lawyers said both Davenport and Hines were high on the night of the murders.
