Martin Lawrence wanders L.A. with loaded gun, screaming at passing cars in 1996!

Comic Martin Lawrence was found wandering in a busy Los Angeles street yesterday — a loaded handgun in his pocket, yelling and “acting like a madman,” authorities and witnesses said.

The “You So Crazy” star was plucked from the intersection by cops, hospitalized and released to his doctor, who said Lawrence had failed to take prescribed medication and had suffered a seizure, according to police.

But a publicist’s statement issued later quoted Lawrence’s doctor, William Young of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, as saying the star was suffering from “complete exhaustion and dehydration.”

Cedars-Sinai spokesman Ron Wise said last night that Lawrence had been admitted into a regular medical ward there in fair condition. Asked about the police statement that Lawrence had stopped taking some sort of medication, Wise said, “I don’t know anything about that.”

The bawdy 30-year-old star of Fox TV’s “Martin” quipped, “I always told everybody they’d be coming for me some day,” as cops were about to grab him, sources said.

Police did not say whether the handgun was licensed, but said authorities were considering filing misdemeanor charges against the Queens reared TV and movie star for carrying a concealed weapon.

Witnesses and cops said Lawrence ran into the bustling intersection of Tyrone Ave. and Ventura Blvd. — the main drag of the Sherman Oaks neighborhood — about 12:30 p.m. and began yelling at passing cars.

“He was yelling, ‘Fight you know, don’t give up, fight the power,’ or something like that,” witness Aaron Berg told Los Angeles’ KCAL-TV. “He was shouting some obscenities or something. The police were forcefully putting their arms around him, like trying to hold him down, because he was fighting so much and yelling. He was like a madman. I was like, ‘That’s Martin Lawrence.’ I couldn’t believe it.”

Police took Lawrence to Sherman Oaks Hospital before he was released to his doctor and admitted to Cedars-Sinai.

The star of the new movie, “A Thin Line Between Love & Hate,” frequently has raised eyebrows for his sexually explicit standup act.

But he’s said his marriage last year to former Miss Virginia-USA Patricia Southall and the birth of their daughter Jasmine, now 3 months old, has “mellowed” him.

“I’m more conscious of what I do,” Lawrence said in an interview last month. “I’ll be more conscious around her, my daughter.”

Lawrence, born on an Air Force base in Germany and raised in Queens and Maryland, achieved his greatest notoriety in 1994 when he made unscripted jokes about sex and feminine hygiene during a raunchy “Saturday Night Live” monologue.

Potter’s House Fort Worth Member Cuffed, and Assaulted at Church in Dispute Over Working on Stage!

patrick-e-winfield-ii

Leader of the Potter’s House of Fort Worth in Texas, Patrick E. Winfield II, and the Audrey Stevenson, 22 (inset), a formed church volunteer who says she was assaulted at the church on Sunday March 25, 2018.

A young Potter’s House Fort Worth church volunteer said she quit her role at the church Sunday after she was handcuffed, assaulted and physically removed from the church during a dispute with an elder, that was partially captured on video, about her appearing on the church’s stage.

In the recording of the incident, Audrey Stevenson, the 22-year-old former volunteer who attended the church led by Patrick E. Winfield II, is heard having a discussion with the church elder, identified as Rhonda Lewis, backstage.

“So I want to be clear. On the stage, you are not allowed to do anything on the stage. Now they just said to me that you said the pastor said you could do stage?” Lewis can be heard in the video telling Stevenson.

Stevenson told Lewis that she spoke with the pastor’s wife, who informed her that “she had no regulation on me serving under any type of restriction” and they would be meeting with the elder and other staff members to discuss the matter.

The conversation soon devolved into a tense argument after Lewis indicated that Stevenson was out of order for having gone to the pastor’s wife with the dispute and indicated that there would be no meeting as she is the church administrator. She further called Stevenson a manipulative liar and noted that she had been “sat down” — meaning removed from service — and thus should not be on stage. Stevenson asserted that she has a right to call the pastor’s wife and told the elder she should be “ashamed” of herself.

As Stevenson tried to leave the room, a church security official, identified as Brandon Amie, blocked her way, saying he needed to “explain something” to her. She was then handcuffed and restrained as she begged him to let her leave. At one point, she indicated Amie had his knee in her back while she continued screaming.

When other church security officers arrived at the scene of the dispute, Amie explained that Stevenson was refusing to follow the systems established by the church administrator.

“She’s been told by her supervisor — she’s a volunteer — she can’t be backstage, she can’t serve. She was on the stage,” Amie said, explaining what led to the dispute. When he asked the production manager who allowed her back on stage, the manager said that Stevenson told him “pastor did.”

“I know pastor didn’t say that,” said Amie. He then went searching for Stevenson backstage and that is when the dispute occurred with the elder.

“Tried to talk to her. She rises up on Rhonda. Rhonda explain to her the system of the church. All we wanted to do was have a conversation about the system, she rises up and started to be loud,” he told the officers.

Calls to the Potter’s House Fort Worth to find out why Stevenson was removed from service were not answered on Tuesday morning.

In a video posted to Stevenson’s Facebook page, Stevenson’s mother, who was not identified but has been a member of the church since 2014, said there had been an ongoing issue between her daughter and Elder Lewis since January. She said she tried to find a solution to the problem prior to the fracas but Lewis would not let her speak to the pastors.

“I initially reached out to pastor. I called the church. Rhonda Lewis was the gatekeeper. She never passed the message on to Bradley so that I could speak to pastor,” Stevenson’s mother said.

She explained that when she tried reasoning with officials respectfully again on Sunday about how her daughter was treated, she was not allowed inside the church.

“The church I’ve been going to since 2014, have never had a problem with anyone there, I paid my tithe and offering faithfully, and when I asked to speak to first lady because I wanted them to know how my daughter had been slammed,” the incensed mother said.

“These are despicable, ludicrous, demoralizing, hideous acts happening in the church of God. And these are the people who are in leadership, I want to tell you if they get away with this, they’ll do this to somebody else’s child. Or to someone else’s sister. This is a woman. Audrey is 22 years old. 5′ 2″. I’m short. I’m only 5′ 5″ and they would do this to her? What kind of people are these?” she asked.

A statement from Pastor Winfield posted to the church’s Facebook page on Sunday night called the incident, which has been viewed on Facebook nearly 3 million times as of Tuesday morning, “unfortunate.” He further noted that the matter was reported to the Fort Worth Police Department and is being investigated.

“An unfortunate situation ensued between a former volunteer and church leadership, prior to service on Sunday, March 25. The incident captured partly on video and posted on Facebook gives a partial but incomplete reflection of all of the issues involved. The Potter’s House of Fort Worth like most churches, welcomes and cherishes all of its volunteers who are the life’s blood of the organization,” Winfield said.

“When those in service are removed, we expect for that process to occur privately to protect the dignity of all involved. Unfortunately, that did not occur in this case. An incident report was made with the proper authorities at the time including the Fort Worth Police Department. A full investigation is underway,” he said.

“While the facts are sorted by an independent third party, the TPHFW security personnel involved will be placed on administrative leave pending the results of the investigation. The safety and well-being of the Potter’s House of Fort Worth community is our utmost concern. Please continue to pray for our church leadership and for all who serve and worship here,” he added.

Russia says it snuck nuclear attack submarines near US bases undetected!

5aac108589188d3c128b471b-1334-667Russian President Vladimir Putin leaves the submarine Archangelsk as the crew salutes, in port at Severmorsk, February 17, 2004.

  • Russian media reported on Friday that its military snuck nuclear attack submarines near US military bases and left undetected.
  • Russia has been increasingly touting its nuclear capabilities.
  • Even though the alleged submarine patrols near the US are militarily meaningless, Russian media reports they will air a TV series on the event.

Russian media reported on Friday that its military snuck nuclear attack submarines near US military bases and left undetected just weeks after Russian President Vladimir Putin hyped up his country’s nuclear capabilities.

“This mission has been accomplished, the submarines showed up in the set location in the ocean and returned to base,” Sergey Starshinov, a Russian navy submarine officer, told Russian state-owned media. Starshinov said the vessels came and went “undetected” and that without violating the US’s maritime borders, they got “close enough” to US military bases.

The Russian media, known for trafficking in propaganda to glorify Putin and the state’s military, will reportedly release a TV series on the exercises.

The Pentagon did not respond to request for comment on this story.

The incident remains unverifiable with deniability baked in. If Russian submarines truly came and went undetected, no credible third party could likely verify the exercises. The fact that the military drill will become a TV series suggests that it was carried out at least in part for propaganda purposes, rather than practical military needs.

The submarines, which carry long-range cruise missiles that can fire from underwater, have no business coming close to the US, as they have an effective range of more than 1,500 miles. The submarines named by Russian media are powered by nuclear reactors, but have no nuclear weapons.

The incident comes as Putin prepares for an election on March 18, though he is expected to win handily. Putin has limited which opposition figures can run and controlled the state’s access to information throughout.

Russia frequently engages in propaganda to glorify its military, as it did when it recently deployed early-stage supposedly stealth fighter jets to Syria. After a few days of dropping bombs on undefended villages in Syria, Russia declared the planes, which are designed for high-end warfighting against US stealth jets, “combat proven.”

In February, Russian military contractors suffered a humiliating defeat to the US military in Syria, with airstrikes and artillery wiping out up to 300 Russian nationals while US forces suffered no combat losses, a US General has confirmed.

Does it matter if Russia can sneak its submarines around like this?

Both the US and Russia have heavily entrenched mutually assured destruction nuclear postures, meaning that any nuclear strike on the US by Russia would be immediately returned by US missiles fired from silos, submarines, and airplanes pummeling Russia.

Russia is currently facing increasing scrutiny and sanctions over its meddling in the US’s 2016 presidential election and its alleged role in the poisoning of former spies in Britain. Russia’s economy is heavily dependent on energy exports, and the weak price of oil and competitiveness from the US and other players have crippled its economy, though it continues to spend heavily on the military.

Despite having four times the population, Russia’s GDP is roughly equivalent to Canada’s and military sales and power remain one of its few lifelines to nationa prestige.

Though the US and Russia are Cold War foes increasingly at odds over foreign policy, the only recent significant clash between the two countries came in February, during the battle in Syria which Russia overwhelmingly lost.
