3 dead, 8 injured when Border Patrol uses spike strip to stop fleeing pickup on I-8 near Boulevard

Three people were killed and eight were injured when a pickup fleeing from Border Patrol agents hit a spike strip, veered onto an embankment and rolled Thursday afternoon on westbound Interstate 8 near Boulevard, authorities said.

Border Patrol agents gave chase to the Chevrolet Silverado pickup, which had two people in the cab and nine in the bed, about 4:25 p.m., CHP spokesman Officer Travis Garrow said. The truck crashed while fleeing at an “extremely high rate of speed” on the two-lane interstate east of Crestwood Road near the Golden Acorn Casino.

“It was spike-stripped by the Border Patrol, continued westbound, went up a dirt and rock embankment and rolled, ejecting either nine or 10 people out of the vehicle,” Garrow said.

A male driver and a female passenger were believed to be the only occupants seated in the cab of the truck, Garrow said. Nine men were in the bed, which had no camper shell or other type of covering.

According to a CHP incident log, witnesses reported the pickup was weaving in and out of traffic and passing other motorists using the center median and right shoulder at speeds of more than 100 mph.

Three people were killed, including the only woman, and the rest sustained moderate to major injuries, Garrow said.

Cal Fire San Diego said three of the victims sustained major injuries and five others suffered minor injuries.

Garrow said the truck’s driver was in Border Patrol custody Thursday night. Border Patrol officials said they were preparing a statement about the incident.

The ages and immigration statuses of the victims were not immediately known.

Both westbound lanes of I-8 were shut down approaching the Crestwood Road exit, and the interstate remained closed as of 7:30 p.m.

Motorists were being diverted off westbound I-8 and onto Old Highway 80 at Ribbonwood Road, several miles east of the crash. Vehicles were being allowed back onto westbound I-8 at Crestwood Road.

Border Patrol policy states that agents may get involved in pursuits only when the benefit outweighs any immediate danger created by speeding or other emergency driving techniques.

Federal officials have said pursuits involving agents are rare, but Thursday’s crash was the second in the past 16 months that resulted in three deaths.

The other triple-fatality chase happened in August 2017 after Border Patrol agents spotted a Black GMC Envoy that, according to an alert, was associated with an armed and dangerous man suspected of murder and human smuggling.

When the agents tried to pull the vehicle over, the driver sped off. The vehicle was traveling at high speeds when it went off Interstate 15 and into a Rancho Bernardo ravine, killing three of the four people inside.

Fake News At The Border

Lights! Camera! Action! Take 22!

Poor starving migrant mom stars in Fake News latest propaganda photo along with her diaper clad seven year old kids.

On Sunday, between five hundred and a thousand caravan migrants carrying their country’s flag bull rushed the border. They screamed profanities and hurled rocks and bottles at the brave Border Patrol men and women protecting our nation.

The Border Patrol was correct to use non-lethal tear gas to break up the horde of invaders. They are defending our nation’s border from an invading force, complete with weapons, (however crude) and flying a foreign nation’s flag.
Right on cue, the moral outrage of the Fake News media elite and the Democrats reached a fever pitch with hand wringing and tears, with cries proclaiming “this is not America” and “Trump gasses women and children”.

The starving migrant mom and her two kids were the photo op of the weekend, shared by outraged Fake News Media elite and Hollywood nags.

We really don’t know if the photo was a “set up” for sure, but things look fishy. It gets even stinkier when the starving mom happily posed for a photo holding the very canister of tear gas she and her children were made so “terrified” of that they cried.

Maybe she should keep the canister as a souvenir of what happens when you try to break through another country’s border.

Rewarding failure has become an American epidemic

86074329

The proverb is simple: “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” But a teenage girl and her mom in New Jersey figured out how to circumvent that difficult “trying” part — by whining until success was easily achieved.

At Hanover Park High School last month, a mother complained when her daughter got cut after cheerleading tryouts. Instead of telling her tough luck, the athletic director placated the mom and changed the team’s policy, allowing any wannabe cheerleader to join the squad.

Naturally this upset the kids who made the team fair and square, and they brought their grievances to the school board.

“I did not put in 18 months of work to lead up to this moment just to be told it didn’t matter anymore,” sophomore Jada Alcontara told News12 New Jersey.

Student Stephan Krueger added: “I tried my hardest. Now everything is going away because of one child who did not make the team. Now all my hard work has been thrown out the window.”

Despite its reputation, cheerleading isn’t just about shaking pompoms and yelling catchy chants. Squad members practice gymnastic maneuvers that require strength, flexibility and flair. Now there will be cheerleaders on the team who won’t possess enough of these skills, while those who do have seen their talents devalued.

Giving guaranteed slots to willing participants may make a team seem more inclusive, but it won’t force its members to be. People given an easy pass are unlikely to be met with open arms by those who earned their way.

And what happens to those who are accepted on the basis of “inclusion” rather than merit?

Three years ago New York City’s Fire Department found out after allowing female applicant Choeurlyne Doirin-Holder to fail her way into a $81,000-a-year desk job. Firefighters fumed at the preferential treatment in an online forum. “If you can’t meet the standards, you are a danger to yourself, the public and most importantly everyone operating on the fire ground who is doing their job,” one wrote, according to The Post.

All this mollycoddling comes at an emotional and developmental cost

That prediction proved accurate. After just 10 days on the job, Doirin-Holder was injured while inspecting equipment in a station house, stepping off a ladder incorrectly and fracturing her foot.

It’s not just the FDNY that has lowered standards. When some women were unable to pass the fitness test for combat positions in the Marines, one of the most difficult endurance tests for female recruits was removed. And as low levels of unemployment reduced their pool of potential enlistees, the Army started allowing at least 4 percent of those scoring at the bottom third of its aptitude tests into basic training (up from 2 percent). The Army also expanded its waivers for marijuana use, so where once a history of taking pot was disqualifying, it no longer is.

Lowering standards has become a nationwide — and even global — phenomenon. When schools were unable to pass the basic proficiency tests of the No Child Left Behind law in 2002, educators simply made the tests easier over the years, allowing more kids to pass while keeping the schools’ federal funding intact. And, as of last year, teachers in New York no longer have to take a literacy test that many found too difficult. Meanwhile, in England, schools are now removing analogue clocks in exam rooms and replacing them with digital versions because students unable to read clock faces felt stressed about it.

All this mollycoddling comes at an emotional and developmental cost.

Jessica Lahey, author of the best-selling book “The Gift of Failure,” told The Post: “Kids are smarter than we give them credit for, and they know when we lower our expectations for them. When we give praise, awards or a slot on the team unearned . . . they no longer trust adults to be honest and unbiased arbiters of quality. Lying to kids about the quality of their work or downgrading our expectations so as not to make kids feel bad will only result in their no longer trusting our judgment.”

We’re not doing anyone any favors by opening the floodgates to the FDNY or even a cheerleading squad. Those given an easy way in end up having lower feelings of self-worth, because they know they didn’t earn their spot and have to face those who did every day. It’s humiliation — not charity.

A famous cheer goes, “We know we’re the best, better than all the rest.” But kids and adults everywhere are learning the destructive lesson that you don’t have to be the best anymore. Just showing up is enough.

TEKASHI69 PLACED IN GEN POP AT BRUTAL PRISON But Feds Say He’s in Danger

1120-tekashi-tmz-6

Tekashi69 is getting NO special treatment while he’s in prison awaiting his bail hearing because he’s chillin’ with every other inmate in general population … TMZ has learned.

6ix9ine’s lawyer, Lance Lazzaro, tells us … Tekashi has been placed in gen pop at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center as opposed to being held in a segregated part of the federal pen … due to his celeb status.

That’s interesting because the MDC is notoriously brutal, with inmates that are “extremely dangerous, violent, or escape-prone,” according to the U.S. Justice Department.

1120-tekashi-in-court-elizabeth-williams-4

There’s also this … prosecutors expressed Monday just how much of a target Tekashi had been prior to his arrest this weekend. One prosecutor told a judge ex-members of Tekashi’s crew “wanted to super violate him” following his appearance on the ‘Breakfast Club’ … where he accused his inner circle of turning on him.

The prosecutor, Michael Longyear, said ‘super violate’ meant inflict harm on Tekashi, including possibly shooting him. He said they took Tekashi in after learning he was planning a trip to a Connecticut casino, and feared an attempt on his life could put innocent people in jeopardy.

As for the rapper getting placed in gen pop … Lazzaro thinks Tekashi will be fine. His scheduled bail hearing for Tuesday was pushed to Wednesday since the judge was unavailable.

We broke the story … Tekashi was arrested and indicted on 6 federal charges, some of which carry max sentences of life in prison.

BREAKING NEWS!! Proposed Ohio Law Could Make Abortion Punishable By Death Penalty!!

9f93be04a39f77ab5010f42bcc670d06

After passing a bill through the Ohio House of Representatives that would ban abortion at six weeks, Republicans are considering legislation that would ban abortion completely in the state and make the procedure punishable by life in prison or even the death penalty.

House Bill 565 allows for no exceptions for abortion in cases of rape, incest, or danger to a woman’s life. Under the law, foetuses would be classified as “unborn humans,” making abortion punishable under the Ohio criminal code. This means that a woman who receives an abortion and doctors who perform the procedure could face criminal penalties, ranging from a prison sentence to capital punishment.

State radio station WOSU notes that the bill is being considered by the Ohio House’s health committee and that it is unlikely to be voted on this year. HB 565 is just the latest in a string of anti-choice bills drafted by Ohio Republicans. Republicans’ “heartbeat” bill — which passed the House last week — was previously vetoed by Gov. John Kasich, who instead signed a 20-week ban into law.

“Ohio just took us one step closer to becoming a forced-birth nation,” #VOTERPROCHOICE cofounder Heidi Sieck said in a statement to Refinery29 on Monday. “Legislators in Ohio are banning abortion before women even know they’re pregnant — and we must stand up and speak out against this dangerous bill.” After Brett Kavanaugh ‘s contentious confirmation, the Supreme Court now has a conservative majority, meaning it is possible for Roe v. Wade to be overturned.

Ohio is far from the only state attacking women’s reproductive rightsAlabama and West Virginia have added language into their state constitutions that curtails public funds for abortion and gives foetuses the same rights as people.

Despite the assault on abortion from Republican legislatures, polls show most Americans are in favour of keeping Roe v. Wade. “This November, voters overwhelmingly saw the important role lawmakers serve in stopping attacks on their health and rights,” Dr. Leana Wen, president of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, said in a statement to Refinery29.

“People in states like Ohio that do not have this critical backstop face a heightened threat to abortion access. We must fight harder than ever to protect every woman’s right to control her own body, life, and future. We know the majority of Americans want access to safe, legal abortion. It’s time politicians listen to us — access to safe, legal abortion is a human right.”

Aurora man sentenced to 6 months in jail for having sex with dog; animal to be euthanized

AURORA, Colo. — An Aurora man who allegedly had sex with a dog in the backyard of their trailer home was sentenced to six months in jail on Tuesday and the dog will be euthanized.

Frederick Manzanares, 51, was sentenced to up to six months with work release in an Arapahoe County Jail and two years of probation for participating in sex acts with the dog and his former girlfriend.

Manzanares pleaded guilty to two counts of animal cruelty in September and faced up to 18 months in jail.

The dog that was abused, a male Akita mix named Bubba, was in the care of the Aurora Animal Shelter and they determined that Bubba has become aggressive and is not safe to be adopted and therefore will be euthanized, according to Aurora spokesman Michael Bryant.

Manzanares and his former girlfriend, Janette Solano, 49,  were arrested in March for cruelty to animals.

The discovery of the animal abuse was triggered by a call to the Aurora Police Department on a report of domestic violence in 2017.

Solano told police that she and her boyfriend got into an argument after she refused to have sex with their dog.

An affidavit detailing the allegations said Manzanares began “introducing her to bestiality videos, bestiality forums, as well as providing her different literature on bestiality.”

The “sex chamber” consisted of a padded bench designed to have sex with the dog.

Manzanares allegedly used a dog hormone spray to arouse the dog and would take pictures and videos during the sex acts.

Police found videos of Manzanares, Solano and the dog having sex.

Solano told police that she was jealous of her boyfriend’s relationship with the dog.

Colorado law defines bestiality as an animal cruelty offense. Sex with animals was allowed under Colorado law until 2007.

Michael Avenatti represented Stormy Daniels and one of Justice Kavanaugh’s accusers, Julie Swetnick. He said we should believe Dr. Christine Ford’s accusations.

Now the shoe is on the other foot, so to speak, and a woman has accused the Creepy Porn Lawyer of domestic violence. Only it wasn’t his ex-wife, it is some other woman. It’s difficult to draw a cartoon when I don’t know what the accuser looks like, but regardless, Avenatti deserves to be treated as someone innocent until proven guilty.

Even though he didn’t treat Trump or Kavanaugh with the same courtesy.

Democrats usually get a pass for such obvious hypocrisy, though—and maybe this incident will even help Avenatti’s 2020 presidential bid. I’m being facetious, but who knows?

Michael Avenatti is arrested for domestic violence after ‘swollen and bruised’ estranged wife filed felony report

Michael Avenatti, the attorney for a porn actress who claims she was paid hush money to keep silent about an alleged affair with Donald Trump, has reportedly been arrested for domestic violence.

Avenatti’s estranged wife, Lisa Storie, filed a criminal complaint against the lawyer with authorities in Los Angeles, TMZ is reporting.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Storie’s face was ‘swollen and bruised’ when she submitted her complaint to authorities.

The alleged incident took place on Tuesday at an apartment in the Century City section of Los Angeles, TMZ is reporting.

Avenatti is seen above at Politicon 2018 in Los Angeles on October 20

Sources told TMZ that the couple had another confrontation on Wednesday.

Storie was seen Wednesday running out of the apartment and screaming into her cell phone while wearing sunglasses to conceal the alleged bruises on her face.

‘I can’t believe you did this to me,’ she reportedly yelled into the phone.

Security guards then led Storie back inside the building, according to TMZ.

Five minutes later, Avenatti showed up and ran into the building, chasing after her.

‘She hit me first,’ Avenatti is reported to have said repeatedly.

‘This is bulls***, this is f***ing bulls***,’ he angrily said.

Investigators told TMZ that Avenatti kicked Storie out of his apartment on Tuesday, which was when the alleged incident took place.

Storie then returned to the apartment on Wednesday to retrieve her things and asked police to wait nearby in case things escalated.

The couple married in 2011. Avenatti filed for divorced last year.

He is reported to be in police custody.

Storie called her estranged husband ’emotionally abusive’, ‘hot-tempered’ and ‘angry and vindictive’ in court documents last year.

The pair began proceedings in November, when Storie filed in Los Angeles before having her petition dismissed.

It was later moved to a court in Orange County and Avenatti was the one who filed the papers.

In one document which was obtained by Fox News, Storie described an incident at their $17million home where she said her ex-husband became ‘verbally aggressive’.

She has since retracted her description of him and said the pair are trying to divorce civilly and in private.

She said there had never been any form of abuse – physical, emotional or verbal – between them and described him as a ‘good man’ of whom she has never been afraid.

Avenatti has also told DailyMail.com that he never abused his wife, the mother of his son, in any way.

The court document reads: ‘[Avenatti] is hot tempered and used to having his way – when he doesn’t he gets extremely loud and verbally aggressive. ‘

It goes on to describe an incident on December 17 when he arrived at their home to find Storie had changed the locks on their home.

‘I offered for him to be with [their son] for 9am to 7pm with a nanny present. He took umbrage with the request, showed up with his 15-year-old daughter and demanded access to the house…he immediately started yelling at me,’ she said in the documents.

In her statement in May – after telling Fox News that she was frustrated that their divorce had not yet been finalized – Storie painted her estranged husband differently.

‘Michael has in the past been a loving and caring husband and is a loving and caring father. I never called the police because I was never threatened with harm. I never sought to have him excluded from our home because I felt threatened or feared for my safety or that of my son.

‘Further, he has paid all child support and spousal support. He is a good man.

Storie added that journalists were trying to ‘harm him’ with a ‘defamatory story that has no basis in reality’.

Avenatti told DailyMail.com in May: ‘There was never any abuse, alleged or otherwise, by me in my relationship with my wife.’

‘There are a host of things that I could disclose relating to Lisa, her habits and the circumstances around her filing but I will decline to do so at this time as she is the mother to my son and I do not think it is appropriate to malign her,’ he added.

In May, Storie told Fox News: ‘I need to be divorced and if [Michael Avenatti] continues to paint the narrative, he can ignore our case! Everyone reports we are divorced. That does not help my goal to get a divorce.

Memo to black men: Stop voting Republican

1053877032Attendees listen to President Trump’s address during the 2018 Young Black Leadership Summit at the White House on Oct. 26, 2018.

BROTHERS, WE NEED to talk.

In the midterm elections, about 17 percent of black men voted to give Texas Republican Ted Cruz another term in the Senate. Around 11 percent supported Georgia gubernatorial candidate Brian Kemp, even though he did his best, as the Republican secretary of state, to disenfranchise more than a million voters, the majority of them African-American.

So, here’s my request: Black men, vote like black women.

Yes, black men vote consistently for Democratic candidates, but there is no more unshakable bloc than black women. More than 90 percent voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016, and against failed Alabama Senate candidate and accused sexual predator Roy Moore last year.

In Tuesday’s midterms, 94 percent of black women voters supported Beto O’Rourke, Cruz’s opponent; in Georgia, 97 percent of African-American women backed Democrat Stacey Abrams. (Her opponent, Kemp, only resigned as secretary of state Thursday, after turning his contest against Abrams into a hot mess of voter suppression. She has refused to concede.)

Only in Florida’s gubernatorial race did black men surpass black women in voting for the Democratic candidate — Andrew Gillum, the African-American mayor of Tallahassee.

Black women generally don’t vote against their self-interests. We vote as if our lives depend on it, because they do.

Much has been made — and rightfully so — about white women supporting terrible white Republican men at the ballot box. Two years ago, 53 percent of white women shunned Hillary Clinton for Donald Trump, unswayed by the infamous “Access Hollywood” audiotape or his other boorish or racist behavior.

For the recent midterms, the numbers were again telling. Yes, Republicans lost support among suburban white women, which allowed Democrats to regain control of the House of Representatives. Yet in key races in Georgia, Texas, and Florida, white women still overwhelmingly voted red.

As exit polls revealed demographic breakdowns and voting patterns, they again garnered a lot of social media chatter about white women as “foot soldiers of the patriarchy.” But the statistics that caught my eye concerned black men, and their double-digit support for Kemp and Cruz. Even in the Florida race between Gillum and Republican Ron DeSantis, 8 percent of black men voted for DeSantis. That’s a low number, but still too high when one considers that DeSantis was endorsed by white supremacists and buoyed by racist robocalls.

How can so many black men still align with a party that, now more than ever, is unified by white identity politics?

During his campaign, O’Rourke spoke passionately in a black church about a young unarmed black man killed in his own apartment by a police officer in Texas. Cruz turned the O’Rourke speech into an attack ad.

One day before the election, Kemp tried to tie Abrams to the Black Panther Party, by tweeting a photo — plucked from Breitbart News — of armed members holding an Abrams sign. Kemp claimed this as proof that his opponent was “TOO EXTREME” for Georgia.

My brothers, don’t believe the hype. This Republican Party is not the party of Lincoln. This is unabashedly the party of white supremacy, migrant family separations, racist fearmongering, and Brett Kavanaugh. Even one-time Trump-hugger Kanye West has finally stopped parading around in his red MAGA hat, at least for now.

Recently, The Economist pondered what it would take to make a black voter a likely Republican. For me, this was the most compelling statistic: The younger a black person is, the more likely to skew to the right. Although older white voters tend to be Republican, it’s the reverse in black communities. That’s because older African-Americans have vivid memories of Jim Crow and segregation.

Meanwhile, Trump is courting young black conservatives. In October, he welcomed hundreds to a leadership summit, where they chanted, “Build that wall.” Yes, those were black people joining a racist president to keep brown people out of America.

Look, I get that black people aren’t a monolith, and shouldn’t be expected to hold the same beliefs and political leanings. But we’re in an era when Republicans have swapped their dog whistles for bullhorns. With hate crimes rising, you’ll still be targeted for the color of your skin, not the content of your politics.

You are supporting a man who places party (and, really, his own needs and wants) over country. He proudly calls himself “a nationalist,” and has repeatedly declined to tone down rhetoric fueling racism and anti-Semitism.

Often, people of color ask white allies to speak to their own friends, relatives, and coworkers about the damage Republican candidates and policies do to our communities. In that spirit, black men, I am speaking to you. Our concerns are your concerns — or at least they should be.
